HOW THE MIND WORKS by Steven Pinker is classic book on evolutionary biology is a genial overview on human consciousness, neuro biological motivations, and why truly human robots may still be a hundred years away.  Read by Mel Foster, it includes an extensive new forward, and is recommended for anyone who wrongly believes genes code all human actions and therefore relieve us from responsibility. In this he disagrees with historians like the author of The Culture of War.  Dr. Pinker is a cognitive scientist and Harvard professor who developed a theory for language acquisition, and was chosen by Time magazine as one of the top 100 most influential scientists and thinkers in the world.
