American Grown by Michelle Obama
AMERICAN GROWN--The Story of the White House Kitchen Gardens and Gardens Across America. She also reads the audiobook version, along with Jim Adams, Charlie Brandts and a full cast. In this, her first book, Michelle shares what she's learned about planting a garden, and why getting Americans eating right and moving off the couch may be one of the best ways to revitalize the economy. (Currently, we spend more than any other country on emergency medicine and intervention surgeries, with little thought to prevention. Many doctors are only taught drugs, not natural remedies or vitamins.) A new biography by David Maraniss is BARACK OBAMA, which the author also reads. It's about how the philosophy of Obama was forged in the past, showing how it shaped his present. Some fiction titles I recommend are CHASING MIDNIGHT by Randy Wayne White, with twists involving hostages on a small Florida island, read by George Guidall. James Lee Burke has a new novel titled CREOLE BELLE featuring Louisiana investigator Dave Robicheaux brought to life by narrator and actor Will Patton. (These two authors are among the best mystery writers out there, teamed with the ideal readers.) And if you liked the movie My Week With Marilyn, be sure to hear the L.A. Theatre Work's production of Arthur Miller's AFTER THE FALL, performed by a full cast on audio. The company is also doing a new audio play by Dustin Lance Black titled simply "8" and starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Martin Sheen.
